Managing Director

Welcome to U-Turn Internet.  My name's John McLean, and I run and coordinate U-Turn Internet Services Ltd.  As I will personally be involved with your account, I thought this biography page was important - it gives you the chance to put a name and face to the company.

When you're about to start a new business relationship, it's important to choose someone you trust, and really  feel comfortable with.  I've been very frustrated in the past in dealing with large corporations and being treated like a nameless, faceless 'number'.  It's my hope that this page will break down those impersonal barriers.

Understanding Small Business...

Firstly let me just say, since U-Turn Internet is a small/medium business itself, I really understand and admire where small business owners are coming from.  Whether you're well established or you're just starting out, with me... every client is important.

I've discovered that small business owners don't necessarily have a lot of money to spread around, and they don't necessarily have a lot of technical know-how.  As a result, I've focused my business on simplicity, and the low-cost way of conducting business online, without sacrificing quality.

How I Got Into This Business...

For years now, I've been submerged in the world of the Internet.  Starting off as a web designer and helping small businesses establish an online presence, I learned the ins-and-outs of the world wide web...

I wasn't so interested in the 'technical' side, but I was fascinated by the 'human' side of it.  I learned exactly how the net was a hive of communication.  I'm sure that you, like me, have seen the enormous business potential.  Year by year, I discovered how best to tap into that...

I was passionate about how people 'ticked' - how they could best be communicated to on-mass.  The internet was a perfect vehicle for that.  I discovered that the net allowed people like yourself, and the everyday small business person, to communicate to thousands, even millions - comparatively very inexpensively!

Wanting to develop my skills and explore my passion, I spent a good 4-5 years at university.  I achieved university qualifications in media and advertising, and post-graduate qualifications in industrial psychology.  My focus throughout was on business, applying all I could to the Internet.

Although I was very well educated in practical marketing and psychology (which made working in an advertising firm very appealing), I still had this 'drive' to be my own boss, create a business and make it a success.  I don't know if you can  really relate to that, but I figured I could make a bigger difference on my own than I could working for anyone else.

I learned that the bulk of web sites were built by web designers that know virtually nothing about business.  Even though their businesses had massive potential, their websites didn't convey that...
