DO
I GET TO KEEP THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS (AFTER TRANSFERRING)? |
Short answer -
yes!
yourname@yourdomain.co.nz
Let's say you have
yourname@yourdomain.co.nz (or .com, etc) setup with your old host. When
you move your site over to our servers, your email will move with it. It
will simply reside on our server, rather than your old host's
server.
In fact - after
you swap over to our server, you'll be able to set up 100* new email addresses
at your domain!
yourname@yourISP.co.nz
If however, you
have an email address like yourname@xtra.co.nz (e.g. an email address that is
controlled by your ISP), since we do not control the domain 'xtra.co.nz', we
cannot move your email address over to our server.
This shouldn't be
a problem however - most ISPs allow you to keep your ISP email address
(particularly if you still use them as your Internet Service Provider). If
not, most ISPs allow you to pay them a small amount each month (e.g. $2-3) to
keep your old email address. That is, if you even want to.
Considering you'll have 100* new email addresses you can set up for you and
your friends, it might pay you to just email everybody on your contact list and
let them know you've got a new email address at your very own domain!
* While you can have 100 e-mail
addresses you are limited to the amount of space and resources in
your domain hosting plan. For example, if you are on the Gold Plan,
the email storage for all your email accounts (and anything else)
cannot exceed 250MB.
