PROBLEM
CREATING MYSQL USERS |
When you try to
use cPanel's MySQL Account Maintenance to create a new database user, you get
the message:
Account Created
Added user with the password pword
However, when you return to the main MySQL Account Maintenance screen, the new
user does not show up.
Solution:
Do not use the ampersand (&) character in your password.
I ran into this problem when I chose something like this&that as my password
when trying to create a new MySQL user. There may be more special characters
that cannot be used, but so far I haven't come across any. (E.g. @ and ! work
just fine.)
Problems with the ampersand character may crop up in other areas, as well. If I
remember correctly, the same happens when you try to create a mailing list and
you use a password containing the ampersand character.
Bottom line: stay away from the ampersand character in any passwords within
cPanel
