HOW
TO SETUP OUTLOOK TO SEND EMAIL USING A FORWARDING ADDRESS |
If you
have setup a forwarding address in cPanel (i.e. an email address that forwards
all emails to an email account), you can still set it up in Microsoft Outlook
(express) so that when you reply to an email sent to that address, the
'reply-to' address that the recipient sees will be the same email as the
forwarding address.
Here's
how:
You need
to set up a fake alternative account in Outlook.
1) Click
on 'Tools'
2) Click
on 'Accounts'
3) Click
'add'... then 'mail'...
4) Type
in your email forwarding address e.g. yourname@yourdomain.com
5) Put a
dash ('-') for 'incoming mail'
6) Type
in smtp.yourdomain.com
7) Click
next (it will tell you that you don't have a valid inbox, but click 'yes', you
want to use it.
8) Type
in a dash ('-') for your account name and ('-') for your password.
9) Click
finish - You have just setup a fake email account (it's fake because it's just a
forwarder account, and does not need a valid inbox address because there is no
valid email account to check (as all email is forwarded to your inbox
account)).
10) You
now want to stop Microsoft Outlook from 'checking' the forwarding email address
(because no inbox exists).
Click
once on the account name you just set up, and click 'properties'.
11)
Untick 'include this account when receiving or synchronizing'
12) Click
'ok', then click 'close'.
Now,
whenever you reply to an email that someone has to sent to a forwarding address,
that forwarding address will appear in their 'reply to' box.
You
should also note that when you are sending a new email, a 'From' dropdown box
will appear, where you can select what email address you want the email to
appear to be sent from.
